Daily Update

Monday 4th May

Well here we are at the start of Week 5 and all the learning is ready and waiting for you.  Let me know if you need any help with anything, and don’t forget if you want a bit extra to do to look at BBC bitesize home learning lessons to as they cover lots of the things we have covered in class.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  Take a look below to see the fantastic rainbow Kia has made. Isn’t it fantastic? I also received some lovely photos and a message from Junior on Friday. He has got himself a nice little work area set up at home, and has also been doing a spot of fishing too! Mrs Budden has sent a photo too and she says 'Hi' to you all and to let you know that she is missing your smiley faces, but she is having fun at home with her boys.

I know things are a bit strange at the moment, so if you are feeling a bit anxious about things that are happening follow this link to a really lovely book all about worries.

This week is an exciting week as on Friday it’s a Bank holiday. We’re going to be remembering the 75th  anniversary of VE Day, when the guns fell silent at the end of war in Europe.

You can find out about VE day here

There’s a nice link here to help you make bunting to decorate your house. I think the sun is going to shine so I think my family and I are going to have a barbeque in our garden and perhaps sing a few wartime songs!

Missing you loads

Mrs Wood

P.S. I have added some more of The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me to the stories folder.

Tuesday 5th May

What a busy day yesterday.

In the morning I received some photos of Joshua celebrating his birthday; have a look at his cake!  It made me wonder who else had celebrated their birthdays recently. I know our birthdays are up on the wall in our classroom but the school is shut so I haven’t been able to have a look. I wondered how I could find out then I wondered if Mrs Mann had a list on her computer. So I emailed Mrs Mann and she did. How exciting, not only did Joshua have a birthday on Saturday but so did Kaiden. I also realised that disappointingly we missed Darcey’s birthday which was back in April and Arnie’s which was at the end of March. We will make sure we have a big birthday sing-song when we get back to school. Happy birthday to all of you.

I received two great photos from Latham, showing him and his sister decorating some biscuits and having fun outside.  Also, another photo and a video clip from Ethan who is proving to be a top learner judging from all the amazing things I’ve received from him. Keep it up Ethan! Two children in our class watched Mrs Gooding’s collective worship last week about challenges and decided to set their own challenges. Great work Lily and Jasmine, who have challenged themselves to do 100 jumps on their trampoline each day, and not to use technology for a day ( a toughie at the moment!). My challenge is to go for a run (or a slow jog) at least three times a week, so keep a look out for me. You never know I may run past your house! Don’t forget to watch this week's collective worship as it’s all about VE day.

Did anyone notice that Mrs Fisher has recorded a story for you in the story section? It’s one of my favourites so definitely worth a listen. Today Mrs Bullivant has sent you a little message and a photo which I have included below.

Goodness, what a lot of news to share. I’m hoping to get on the phone to some of you this week, just to check that you are all happy and healthy.

Keep sending me those fantastic emails and photos

Mrs Wood

Hello class one,

I hope you are all enjoying being at home and doing some fun activities with your families. I have been busy in my garden planting lots of vegetables and strawberries ready for the summer. I have also been having a go at leaf art and have created a penguin and a frog, if you fancy a challenge have a go and see what you could make. I have also been doing lots of baking, I've made lots of cakes and biscuits and even had a go at making bread.

I've enjoyed looking at the photos that you have been sending in and look forward to seeing you all soon x

Wednesday 6th May

Good morning everyone,

I do believe the sun is going to shine on us today. My weather app says sun all day long so make sure you enjoy it. Has anyone started on any decorations for the VE day celebrations yet? If you have don't forget to send us a picture!

I heard about some of the great things that Gabe has been doing yesterday. He's made a video and if we can navigate some of the technical wizardry we might even get to showcase it on here, fingers crossed! Lily and Jasmine have been super busy and sent a photo of themselves listening to The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. Check it out in our photo section. Jasmine has also planned and recorded her own version of The Three Little Pigs which she sent to me to listen to, but unfortunately it wouldn't open on my computer :c I do hope you're keeping to your challenge of trampoline jumping girls. Has anyone else set themselves a challenge? I went running again yesterday so i'm on target to complete my weekly challenge if my legs hold out!

Busy, busy Kia has written and recorded his very own song. Watch out Ethan, Kia is nearly as busy as you! He might overtake you as the Greatest Home Learner!!

It's below so make sure you have a listen. Well done all of you clever clogs!

Have a lovely day

Mrs Wood

Thursday 7th May

What a fantastic sunny day yesterday! I went for a lovely walk and took a photo of the beautiful blue sky and the gorgeous greenery. I wonder if anyone can guess where I was? You might notice a local landmark in the middle of the picture! It’s one of my favourite places to walk with Louie at the moment and I have enjoyed watching the trees and bushes come into leaf over the last few weeks, and the tadpoles wriggling around in the pond. Some days I even hear a woodpecker.

Where am I?

Kia and I both thought we would make some bunting to put out for the VE day celebrations on Friday. Kia's daddy looks a bit more interested than Louie!

If you look in the photo section you will see that not only is Ethan working on expanding his brain by making a brilliant hand washing poster, but he’s also going to be super fit when he comes back to school! I also added a photo of some pigeons sitting on my fence, just because I liked the way they were cuddling each other.

Year 2s I was looking at ttrockstars website yesterday and I wondered how you are getting on with your times tables. If you are finding them too hard or too easy let me know and I can adjust what comes up for you. Your main focus needs to be the 2, 5 and 10 times tables but if you are feeling super confident with them I can add others, or if you are finding them tricky I can put less on.

Have a good day

Mrs Wood
