Term 6

Welcome back to term 6, I hope you were all able to take the opportunity to relax and enjoy the half term break.

This term our topic is 'Holidays and Journeys'

We will be sharing different holiday and days out experiences. We will be looking at beach holidays in the past and how they compare to now a days. The children will be making an ice cream parlour for our role play area, this is a great opportunity to practise those amazing writing skills.

This term we will be continuing with our Phase 3 and 4 letters and sounds . The children will continue bringing home high frequency and tricky word cards to practice along with the reading books. Please keep up the amazing practise at home, the children really enjoy demonstrating how well they can read and it makes such a difference!

In our maths we will be continuing with our sharing and doubling along with volume and capacity and developing a mastery of numbers up to 20.

As always in EYFS we follow the children's interests and are excited to see where the topic takes us!

Our Christian Value this term is Compassion and our Learn to Learn Value is Resourcefulness. These values will be incorporated within the whole school day and are part of our focus during collective worships this term.

Please continue to check Dojo for updates and photos, the children love sharing these moments with yourselves.

You will need to bring your book bag, water bottle and reading books, every day to help with your learning.

On Thursdays you will need your forest school clothes for the afternoon.

You will also need your PE kit; you can leave that here all term.  Please can you bring a labelled  waterproof coat,  sun hat and sun cream just in case the weather turns sunny (you never know!).

Thank you for your continued support.

Transition through Foundation Stage: From Birth to Five

When our youngest children enter the reception class, they begin the final year of Foundation Stage ( Birth to Five). The Prime areas of Learning within the Foundation Stage are Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Communication and Language and Physical Development. Specific areas of learning are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive arts and Design. Please refer to "What to expect throughout the Year" for further details.

We work closely with our feeder settings and with parents to ensure that any gaps in learning are identified and addressed on entry to school. This year, we have prioritised mathematics and writing as areas for specific, focussed intervention for individual children. September 2015 sees the introduction of a new baseline assessment which we will use, alongside the information which you give us about your child, to inform our priorities for the coming year.

What to expect throughout the year

Welcome to our Foundation Stage Class

Term 4

Welcome back after the half term break.

I hope you all had a relaxing time and are ready for an exciting Term 4! Our topic this term is 'Spring'.

We will be spending time exploring the 4 seasons and different types of weather. We will be observing changes in the environment, life cycles, planting and growing. We will be having some eggs in our classroom to hatch out into chicks and will also be enjoying a trip to a farm to see the baby lambs.

This term we will be continuing to learn our Phase 3 phonics. We will continue bringing sound cards home to practice, reading books, library books and high frequency words to learn.

Within our classroom this term, there will be a garden centre and cafe role play area, along with an electronics exploratory area where we undo the screws to see what is inside.

Our topic is always led by the children's own interests and ideas so we are excited to see where our topic will lead !

Our Christian value this term is  'Forgiveness'. Our Learn to Learn value is 'Reflection'.

You will need to bring your book bag, water bottle and reading books, every day to help with your learning.

You will also need your PE kit; you can leave that here all term.  Please can you bring a labelled warm waterproof coat, hat and gloves as the weather has turned chilly. We like to go out in all weathers!

Thank you
