Our topic for this term is called Fire, Fire and you will be receiving a knowledge organiser for your child, and an overview for yourself to let you know what we hope to cover in Term 2. Going through the Knowledge organiser with your child will help them to retain the learning, further their understanding and develop their interest to find out more.
PE will still take place outside if the weather is good, but we also hope to have an inside PE time this term. Children will still only need suitable footwear in school.
Fruit will continue to be provided for children in KS1, but your child may bring in their own if they prefer. Please remember we do encourage this snack to be fruit rather than anything else. Children only have a short break and most of them want to spend their time playing rather than eating, so nothing that takes too long to eat or is too fiddly.
Reading books - there have been a few changes this term to try and limit passing things between home and school too much. On Mondays we will get children to choose up to 3 books to take home. These books should come back to school on Thursdays, when we will collect them in and support the children in choosing another selection of books to bring home. Reading records should not be brought in to school for the time being, but please do continue to write in them. We will continue to listen to children read in school and keep our own records. It may take a while for the children (and ourselves!)to get used to this new system so please let me know your child is not bringing books home.
Year 1 - a spelling challenge for this term has been sent home and you can also find it in the parent information for this term.
Year 2 - spelling books can continue to come into school, but the children will do their test and onto a piece of paper which they can stick into their spelling book once it is marked.
Together we will RISE to the challenge.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
